Our Cradle Days children are our youngest group.
In our baby room each child has their own individual routine. Staff are highly responsive to the babies needs. In the morning babies can get weetabix or porridge or parents can provide their own breakfast. The nursery also provides toast and fresh fruit for morning snack at 9.45am but this can be given earlier or later to suit children’s individual routines. Most babies get their lunch around 12.00pm but again some get their lunch a little later. At approximately 2.30pm we offer afternoon snack. Bottles can be given to fit in with individual routines or responsively. We can provide alternatives or blend snacks to suit younger babies who are weaning.
In Cradledays staff interact with the babies and provide learning experiences responsively. Staff implement singing, stories and rhyme time. We offer treasure basket play opportunities. A Treasure Basket is a heuristic play resource. It is a basket holding a variety of carefully selected items, which are safe and interesting for your baby to explore. It contains a range of items from babies’ environment and the items are made of different materials; wooden, natural, metal, textiles etc.
Staff will engage with the babies in floor play and offer experiences for them to develop their physical movement and skills. Babies can have tummy time and play time on the mats. We create clear pathways for children to crawl and practice walking. The babies go for regular walks in the buggies in the local area or go to the outdoor play area. Staff provide sensory experiences for babies to enjoy. We plan spaces opportunities and resources to meet babies’ current interests and development needs. Babies can sleep responsively when tired in the nursery cots.
